Laura Bonacore, C.P.N.P
The Children’s Medical Group is certainly fortunate to have such a great group of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Add to our team, Laura Bonacore, CPNP, who joined us this Fall, 2016. A graduate of Brown University and U Penn, Laura has been working with teens and adolescents for years, with a concentration in reproductive health and family planning, helping teenagers with smart decision making. Her focus in adolescent medicine also includes managing acne, and healthy weight, as well as dealing with asthma, and newborn health with new moms.
Laura’s experience includes working in pediatrics in a community health center in Lowell, MA, as well as a family-planning clinic inside a high school. Laura’s ability to connect with kids, teens and their parents is a great asset in her work. Patients and parents respond to her cheerful, engaging manner, and this allows for better communication and outcomes.
Laura grew up in Rhode Island; she is married with two young two girls, ages two and five, a dog named Charlie, and she laughs, “a trouble-making cat named Cricket.” She loves the outdoors, especially hiking, and practices yoga. Cooking (“anything vegetarian, especially good Thai”), reading, and art are also activities that she shares with her family. Traveling is high on the list. In fact, Laura has done medical volunteer work in the Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Haiti, and she is fluent in Spanish. Visit Laura at our Poughkeepsie office.
