Ajit Monteiro, M.D.
Dr. Ajit Monteiro is a board-certified pediatrician who joined the Children’s Medical Group in October 2024. He earned his medical degree from Mahatma Gandhi Mission’s Medical College in Aurangabad, India, and completed his residency in pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. During his residency, Dr. Monteiro distinguished himself with the Residency Leadership Award and served on the Resident Council for three years, culminating in his role as Chair of Quality Improvement.
Dr. Monteiro further enhanced his expertise with a two-year program in Global Health at Wayne State University, providing him with a broader perspective on healthcare delivery across diverse populations. Before residency, he spent a year conducting research in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University at Buffalo, where he contributed to advancements in understanding childhood illnesses.
With special interests in pediatric gastroenterology and adolescent medicine, Dr. Monteiro is passionate about helping young patients navigate developmental milestones and complex health conditions. He is a proud member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
Originally from Mumbai (Bombay), India, Dr. Monteiro brings a global outlook to his practice. Outside of work, he enjoys tennis, pickleball, table tennis, gardening, cooking, and exploring new cuisines. He also loves traveling—visiting his brother in London is a favorite destination. While he doesn’t have pets yet, his home is filled with thriving plants.
