Carl D. Sorgen, M.D
Dr. Carl Sorgen, a founding member of The Children’s Medical Group, has practiced in the Mid-Hudson Valley for over thirty-five years. He graduated Yale Medical School in 1972 and studied nephrology (the study of the function and diseases of the kidney) at the University of Florida. He is the former Chairman of Pediatrics at Vassar Hospital, served on the Medical Executive Committee, and received the distinguished Vassar Service Award.
For greater than twenty years, Dr. Sorgen has also been the Chief of Medicine for the Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie, which honored The Children’s Medical Group in September of 2012. He has numerous publications in the field of pediatric nephrology and has written a local column on common pediatric problems, “Kid Bites” in the Taconic Press.
Dr. Sorgen’s family includes his wife, Rochelle and two daughters: Sarah Wood of Los Angeles, California, and Caroline Kaye, a noted children’s photographer, of Cold Spring, New York. In his spare time he likes to travel, bike, swim and play tournament bridge. “Most importantly,” he says, “I have one of the largest “Knock, Knock” and “Chicken Joke” collections in the country.” Now that’s a kid’s doctor!
